Appointment of new OAFC Executive Director

Friday, November 16, 2012

The President and the Board are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Boyes as the new Executive Director of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs.

Richard has 39 years of experience serving his community in both the volunteer and fulltime fire service. He is an experienced fire services executive, having filled many roles including fire chief, consultant and fire service advisor.

Richard is very familiar with the operation, tasks and challenges of the OAFC having served on the Board for many years. Also he has been Chief Operations Officer at the OAFC since July of this year and has been working very closely with the Executive Director, President and Board on many different projects. One such project is the newly developed member support services which will be launched next week at the Midterm Meeting on November 21 & 22, 2012. We believe that Richard is ideally suited to help guide the Association in our activities as the leaders of innovation and excellence in public safety in the province of Ontario.

Richard stated that he was proud and honoured to have been selected for the job.

"I am very pleased to accept the Executive Director position with the OAFC. I am excited to be able to assist in the implementation of new programs and services to benefit members.  I am also looking forward to working with all of our chief officers on the many challenges and opportunities facing the Ontario fire service." Boyes stated.

Richard assumes the position of Executive Director on January 1, 2013.

Please join us in welcoming Richard to his new position.

Chief Kevin Foster
President,
Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs
