Passing of OAFC Director Chief Mark Mehlenbacher

It is with a very heavy heart that I advise of the passing of St. Catharines Fire Chief and OAFC Director Mark Mehlenbacher on July 18, 2014 following a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Mark's tenure in the Ontario Fire Service included service in Ancaster, Burlington and most recently, in the city of St. Catharines.

In addition to serving as the Fire Chief in St. Catharines, Mark also served as a Director with the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs where he was instrumental in leading the ongoing EMS-TIF initiative, which is driving the automatic linkage between EMS and Fire Dispatch systems.  Mark was in his second term as an OAFC Director and was the chair of the OAFC Urban Fire Services Committee.

On behalf of the women and men of the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs, I extend sincere condolences to Mark's family, friends and his extended fire service family in their time of loss.

M.D. (Matt) Pegg
