Asphodel Norwood Fire and Rescue has lost a cherished retired member of the department Deputy Chief Ken Wilfred Thursday April 09 2015 in a Motor Vehicle Accident occurring within the Township of Asphodel Norwood.
His wife Christina was involved in the accident but will recover and is in Campbellford Memorial Hospital recuperating from her injuries.
ANFR personnel extricated Ken and Christina from the vehicle with Peterborough EMS. ANFR wishes to thank Peterborough EMS for their professionalism and assistance.
Peterborough OPP assisted with traffic control and accident investigation and their efforts are greatly appreciated by the municipality. Interdepartmental cooperation from everyone involved made a tragic situation more tenable and the manageable for all involved.
Ken Wilfred dedicated 35 years of volunteer service to Asphodel Fire and Rescue before his retirement and his dedication has definitely defined what the department is today.
His loss is a great loss to all and the Department with the insistence of his family wishes to celebrate and give tribute to this remarkable individual

A procession of honour will carry Ken from the Hendren Funeral Home to the Asphodel Norwood Community Centre
1. The procession will consist of Asphodel Norwood Pump 1 leading
2. The casket will be carried in a 1931 GMC Lafrance modified fire truck supplied by Jeff McNeice by request of the family

Parade Muster will take place at 12:30 at the Hendren Funeral Home 36 Queen St. Norwood.
Parking will be at the Community Centre, 88 Alma St. Norwood. A 5 min walk to the Funeral Home.
