Obituary and Service Information for Lieutenant John Mavity, Stratford Fire Department

 

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Gregory Mavity, age 57, of Stratford on Wednesday January 30th, 2013 at the Stratford General Hospital. Beloved son of the late Joe and Mary (Pigeon) Mavity. John is survived by his loving wife Laurie Brown Mavity, son Jake Mavity (Abby), step-son Keegan Therrien (Rebecca), and Jake's mother Lois Burford. Lovingly remembered by Laurie's daughters Shannon Brown and Jill Fowler (Adam) and the light of John's life his grandchildren Ellie, Ayden and Lainey. Also survived by brothers Bob (Sue), Kelly (Karen), sisters Jane Gladding and Norah Allan (Bill) and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by daughter Ali (2002) and brother-in-law Ron Gladding. John was a graduate of Northwestern Secondary School and Bowling Green University where he was a member of the Varsity Falcons Hockey Team. He also played for the Stratford Cullitons and was a Director for many years. John was a proud member of the Stratford Fire Department for over 27 years. Friends and relatives may call at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron St. Stratford on Monday February 4th from 2 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the William Allman Arena, Stratford on Tuesday February 5th at 11 a.m. Rev. Fr. Dick Bester and Rev. Terry Hastings will officiate. Private family interment will be in Avondale Cemetery. Service Information:
Funeral service will be held at the William Allman Arena, Stratford on Tuesday, February 5th at 11:00 a.m

Muster Information:
Firefighters muster at the Army Navy Air Force, 151  Lorne Ave East, Stratford at 9:00 and will be bused to City Hall to form-up for the march.  The parade is scheduled to leave at 10:00 for a .5 mile march to the arena.
