No one was injured and some fast work by North Bay Fire Department crews and the homeowner limited the spread of a Friday morning chimney fire.
The NBFD got the call about the blaze on the 800 stretch of Peninsula Road shortly before 6:30 am Friday.
NBFD Chief Jason Whiteley picks up the story from there in an interview with the Nugget.
“It was a call for a chimney fire that turned into a structure fire. Upon arrival of the crews the homeowner was trying to put out the exterior fire out,” says Whiteley.
“The fire extended into the attic where fire crews got it out.” The chief adds there was still work left to do at the scene.
“Where the chimney and the floor met there was hidden fire there. Fire crews then opened up the floor then put the fire out before it got any further into the house,” says the North Bay Fire Chief.
The damage estimate is not known at this time.
