An Oshawa home was heavily damaged on Tuesday evening after a fire broke out at a Westmount Street address.
Firefighters were called to 18 Westmount St. just before 9 p.m. on May 28 and observed flames and black, heavy smoke upon arrival, said the Oshawa fire department.
All occupants of the home — a detached home with apartment units inside — were able to evacuate safely, added the fire department.
Fire crews were at the scene for almost four hours and an investigation into the cause and origin continues, said the fire service.
It’s expected that the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal will investigate the blaze due to the extensive damage to the home, added fire officials.
