Gravenhurst fire officials are still investigating a house fire last week that caused more than $650,000 in damage.

Deputy chief Todd Clapp said during an interview on Monday (June 10) no cause has been found surrounding a blaze at a McKenzie Street residence.

According to Clapp, fire officials received a call about 10 minutes after 8 a.m. Thursday morning (June 6) from multiple 911 callers about the house fire.

“Responding crews found a house that was fully involved on arrival. We had all three of our stations respond to the incident with approximately 25 firefighters that responded to it. We also called for mutual aid from Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes township to backfill our station and to give us a little extra horsepower on scene,” he said.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and no firefighter was injured during the incident.

Clapp said the fire, estimated to be in the $650,000 range, was not deemed suspicious at the time, but the investigation is ongoing.

A GoFundMe site has been established for homeowners Stu, Emily and their two boys — the family declined to be interviewed — by Sarah Nash. She said the family was grateful for the support they had received thus far.

The GoFundMe page has a goal of $10,000. To view or donate, visit this link.
