On Saturday, October 5th, at about 11:20 a.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron East Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a plane crash in Huron East.

The pilot, a 68-year-old man from Central Huron, called 911 after crash-landing in a farm field near Newry Road. He was found inside the plane and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The pilot was trying to land on a grass runway in a nearby field but couldn’t stop before crossing Newry Road and landing on the other side.

At first, emergency responders thought there were three other passengers on the plane. However, they later found out that these people were good Samaritans who had stopped to help the pilot. The OPP thanks them for their assistance at the scene.
