Have what it takes to fight the flames? Keep a cool head during emergencies? If so, you might be just the person the East Ferris Fire and Emergency Services needs on its team.
Find out for yourself this Saturday, September 28th, at the Fire and Emergency Services open house. It’s a recruitment event, so if you have an interest in serving as a volunteer fire fighter, save the date. However, there’s plenty more to take in at this year’s event, including fire fighting demonstrations and a cash barbeque.
“Last year’s event was a huge success,” Fire Chief Steph Amyotte told BayToday. “We received several applications and have added three fantastic recruit firefighters to our roster. We hope to see much of the same this year,” he added.
“As the need for volunteer firefighters grows across the country, getting the word out has never been more important,” the Chief continued. “I’ve recently seen online posts from some of our neighbours looking for volunteers as well, so if our event helps bring awareness surrounding the need, that’s great too.”

Indeed, the day’s open house is meant to spread the word about the importance of volunteering and provide information to the community about the Fire and Emergency Services.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free, but there will be a cash barbeque. At 11 a.m., fire fighters are putting on a turkey fryer explosion demonstration, and at noon, prepare to witness an auto extraction. Plus, there the trucks and gear will be on full display, for your viewing pleasure.
The open house takes place at Corbeil’s Fire Hall at 390 Highway 94 in Corbeil, East Ferris.
