The City of Quinte West is developing its first Fire Master Plan providing a 10-year strategy for how fire protection and emergency services are delivered across the municipality.
In a release, the city says the Fire Master Plan will help ensure fire services keep pace with community needs by assessing current operations and identifying opportunities for improvement.
The plan will provide a framework for long-term planning related to fire prevention, emergency response, staffing, equipment, and infrastructure, aligned with provincial standards and the city’s Strategic Plan.
“With more homes, businesses, and residents calling Quinte West home, demand for fire and emergency services is increasing,” said Fire Chief John Whelan in the release.
“We’re taking a proactive approach to planning so that our emergency services can continue to effectively protect our growing community.”
Quinte West residents and community members will have the opportunity to provide input to the fire master planning process beginning this fall, and can learn more about the Fire Master Plan project at the city’s website.
Completion of the city’s first Fire Master Plan is anticipated in early 2026.
