Caledon Fire and Emergency Services Gearing Up for Annual Home Safe Home Campaign

JustSayin'Caledon

A Caledon firefighter could visit your home between May and October as part of the Home Safe Home door-to-door program. Launched in 2007, the program encourages residents to check that they have working smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and provides the opportunity to learn more about fire safety from firefighters.

“Working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms save lives,” said Fire Chief Dave Pelayo. “Starting in May, do not be alarmed if a firefighter shows up to your door. We look forward to speaking with Caledon residents and helping ensure the safety of our community.”

Caledon Firefighters will be in uniform during house visits and participation is optional. Residents can opt to have their smoke alarms inspected or have a chat to learn more about fire prevention and safety.

In 2023, Ontario had 121 fire-related fatalities. Working smoke alarms can prevent fatalities related to fires and carbon monoxide poisoning.
