Council is moving forward with demolition and a rebuild, following a 2013 report pointing to anticipated growth in East Fonthill, and need for a bigger fire station.
There's need for an additional bay, but other deficiences were noted which mean more office space is needed, a public lobby area, and better access for the disabled.
During initial discussions, it was noted changes have been made to the Ontario Health and Safety Act, meaning increased protections for first responders, including fire fighters, and the places they work.
Council received the report from Raimondo and Associates, which provided concepts and cost estimate.
