Fire Prevention Officer/Inspector
Job Description
The Township of East Zorra-Tavistock is seeking applications for the position of a Fire Prevention Officer/Inspector. This position will report directly to the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock, Director of Fire and Protective Services (Fire Chief) and indirectly to the Rural Fire Services of Oxford County (RFSOC) Fire Chiefs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Conduct fire prevention inspections and orders for the Townships
- Prepare inspection orders, reports and other documentation for the Townships
- Assist with Public Education programs
- Assist to co-ordinate joint initiatives with other area Fire departments
- Conduct Fire cause and determination investigations and assist Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and Emergency Management, as required
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of Community Risk Assessments and ability to complete as needed
- Physical ability to wear SCBA and respirator mask while performing work for long periods of time
- Relevant work experience in the fire service or fire safety industry conducting inspections
- Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code in respect to Part 3 buildings on Fire & Life
- Safety Protection Systems, plans review examination and blueprint drawings
- Knowledge of Farm fire safety public education and associated fire risks of farms
This is a non-union full-time position, 35 hrs/week and includes a comprehensive benefit package and OMERS Pension Plan.
The 2024 wage range for this position is $68,596 – 80,698.
