Fire Prevention Officer

The Township of Essa is a dynamic and growing municipality with a current population of approximately 23,500, located in the heart of Simcoe County and southwest of the City of Barrie. Essa is currently seeking a passionate and community-minded individual to join our team.

Reporting to the Deputy Fire Chief, the Fire Prevention Officer will lead the prevention and/or reduction of fire incidences through regular inspections, investigations, and public education, in accordance with applicable safety legislation, by-laws and standards.

Key Qualifications:

• NFPA 1001 Level I & II Firefighter Certification.
• NFPA 1031 Level I Fire Inspector Certification, Level II would be considered an asset or be willing to obtain within the first 24 months of employment.
• NFPA 1033 Fire Investigator Certification.
• 3 years’ experience with a background as a Firefighter or preferably as a Fire
• Prevention Officer related role in Fire Services.
• Class “DZ” Driver’s License an asset.

This is a full-time position involving 35 hours per week (occasionally may be required to work outside regular office hours). Salary range is $55,728.05 - $65,573.85 (2024). The Township of Essa offers excellent benefits and a competitive compensation package.
