Deputy Fire Chief Larry Cocco was named the interim fire chief and general manager of Toronto Fire Services, effective October 4.
Cocco will be filling the role of retiring Fire Chief Matthew Pegg, who will be stepping down the same day.
Cocco will continue in the role until the ongoing fire chief recruitment process has been completed and the successful candidate commences their role, the city reported in a press statement.
He currently manages the Community Risk Reduction division that is responsible for fire inspections and enforcement, fire investigations, public education and fire protection engineering.
