Passing of Retired Lowbanks Chief James Gray

GRAY, James Robert Christopher

With courage and strength, after a lengthy illness surrounded by his family at home in Lowbanks on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the age of 70. Survived and sadly missed by his loving wife of almost 50 years Carol (Hiles); children Sherri Gray, Tammy Andrews (George), Brenda (Rodger) Hill, Michael (Tami), son-in-law Campbell Andrews; and grandchildren Melissa, Sarah, Lauren, Kyle, Matthew, and Mackenzi. Also survived by siblings George (Rena) Gray and Norma Reece, and many nieces and nephews. Jim served as a firefighter for 45 years, most recently with Haldimand County. He stayed active with the fire department until his retirement, mentoring younger firefighters and assisting in any way possible. Special thank you to Dr. Bernard, the nurses and staff at Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, the C.C.A.C., V.O.N., C.B.I., and the firefighters from station no. 7, for their wonderful and excellent care. A private service will take place. If desired, donations to Dunnville Hospital & Healthcare Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to BALLARD MINOR FUNERAL HOME, Dunnville.
