Passing of Lowbanks Retired Chief Doug Cole

COLE, Allan Douglas (Doug) - Peacefully, with grace and dignity, at the Niagara Falls General Hospital on Saturday, July 5, 2014, Douglas Cole, in his 87th year. Loving husband of Wilma (nee Minor) for 66 years. Dear father of Rick (Francine), Shari Barber, and Chris (Beatrice). Devoted grandfather of Amy (Craig), Andy, Brad (Samantha) McGough, Craig (Sabrina) McGough, Scott (Jackie) and Matt (Erica), Great grandfather to Sierra. Sadly missed by his sisters-in-law Norma McIntee, Lorraine (Elmer) Miskolczi and Betty Leslie.and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Luella Cole. Doug was tough, determined individual, who was known for his leadership and integrity. He was passionate about his community and served for several terms on the Dunnville Town Council. He was the last of the original Lowbanks Firefighters and was very proud to have been Chief for so many years. Doug was a very dedicated and supportive family man, always nurturing and willing to give guiding advice. He worked in the automotive industry for many years in both Dunnville and Port Colborne. He was well known in the local stock car racing community and carried his passion for auto racing throughout his life.

Arrangements entrusted to DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME 135 Clarence St. Port Colborne. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for later this summer.
