Obituary & Service Information for Retired M&DFD Fire Chief Brian "Spike" Johnston

Retired%20Meaford%20Fire%20Chief%20Spike%20Johnston.jpgIt is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Richard Brian “Spike” Johnston. Spike served on the Meaford and District Fire Department for 35 years (1969 – 2004), with 22 years as Fire Chief.  He passed away on Tuesday January 1st, 2019 in his 79th year. His passing has not yet been attributed as a LODD.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 11th from 3pm until 6pm at the Meaford Community Centre (151 Collingwood St W, Meaford, ON N4L 1K5).

The family has asked that M&DFD personnel (current and retired) attend (at or close to 3pm) in full dress uniform. They’ve also suggested that our fellowship be informal thus not requiring a formation or procession. Simply drop by to pay your respects. I would encourage as many of our M&DFD personnel to attend and celebrate the life of not only a retired Fire Chief but more importantly a brother. I’m confident that it will mean the world to the family.
