TELLIER, Edward Adrian
Passed away peacefully on March 6, 2019 at the age of 83. Edward is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Lucille (née Lalonde). Cherished father to Diane, Paul (Kim), and Anne Marie (Jim) Rigney. Proud Pépé to April Girard-Brown (Jeff), Angelique Girard, Heather Tellier and Amber Tellier. He was an adoring and doting great Pépé to Edward Brown, Rory Girard and Jaxson Tellier. Also survived by his brothers Raymond (Joanne), James (Sandra), Gerald (Lucy) and sisters Rita (Bob) Pitre and Janet Mulhall. Edward will be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He is reunited with his parents, Edward and Edna Tellier, and sister, Shirley (Jerry) Gagnier. Edward was an inspiration throughout his life, with his strong work ethic, dedication to family, community and service.
Edward worked at General Motors Trim Plant for more than 25 years. In addition to farming for over 60 years. He served for 41 years with the Belle River Fire Service, and was the last Chief to march off the department before amalgamation. He generously donated his time for three decades to the Goodfellows and as a Lions Club member for 45 years. He was always available to help when someone needed him. Edward was a life-long parishioner of St. Simon and St. Jude Parish, serving as an altar boy in his youth and for funerals in later years. He played baseball and hockey, and was an avid Detroit Tiger and Red Wing fan, coaching them from the sofa, and teaching his great grandchildren about sports and how to bunt properly.
Edwards’s achievements, honours and community involvement activities were countless. He and Lucille fostered more than two dozen children over the years. He devoted his life to family, service and others. His special joy was his 1932 Chevy Coupe, which he painstakingly restored and drove. The grandkids always especially liked the rumble seat.
Visitation at Melady Funeral Home (519-728-1500) 572 Notre Dame Street, Belle River on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 2-5 and 6-9 pm, with Parish Prayers at 4 pm, a Firefighters walk through at 7 pm and Lions Club service at 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Simon and St. Jude Parish, 488 St. Charles Street, Belle River on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 for 11 am. Procession to St. Joachim Cemetery to follow. Donations made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Windsor-Essex County or Lakeshore Firefighters Association would be greatly appreciated by the Tellier Family.
