Warren Frederic Brinkman
August 17, 1950 - October 10, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the peaceful passing of Warren in the early morning hours of October 10, 2023.
Warren was a devoted husband and best friend to Cyndi, loving dad to his three girls Meaghan, Becky, and Jessica, and an adoring Grampy to his granddaughters Charlee and Addison. Warren referred to his sons-in-law Rich, Scott and James as his "brothers" and treated them like sons. His kind heart extended to his little grand fur buddies Corona, Witten, and Scamp.
Longbow Lake was home and Warren was most happy when he was there, be it working on a never-ending construction project, tinkering in the garage, riding aimlessly on the quad, or sitting in front of the fire with a "snort" of Grey Goose (served neat).
He was a great friend to many over the years and never failed to take the time to chat, stop for a visit, or lend a helping hand. He was never on time and was late for dinner on more than one occasion - his own birthday once - because he met someone he hadn't seen in ages. That man sure could talk!
Warren loved being in the fire service; he considered it an honour and a privilege. Throughout his tenure he accomplished countless things that he was so very proud of. He was a mentor and a well-respected member of the community. As a founding member, the Longbow Lake Volunteer Fire Brigade held a special place in his heart.
Whether it was a text with too many X's and O's (one that he would always sign off with "Love, Dad/Husband/Grampy"), a bone-crushing hug, or a kiss with an iced-over mustache, he never shied away from showing his love for his family.
Over the years, "Pugger" (as his girls referred to him) taught them numerous things: "know your way out," "measure twice, cut once," and "follow your heart." For his girls he was always "eternal with love" and beyond proud of the lives they'd built for themselves.
After 45 years of marriage, Warren and Cyndi still loved their time spent together. Whether it was a Saturday outing to drop off the recycling, a "quick" trip to Home Hardware, or an evening spent by the fire with a drink and a book, their love knew no bounds. They loved each other "to the moon and back."
We are ever so grateful for the amazing care Warren received on 1A at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. There are no words to express our appreciation for the dignity and respect shown to Warren by the oncology team.
A gathering will be held at the Longbow Lake Firehall in mid-November to share stories and salute Warren.
