Obituary and Service Information for Retired Fire Chief Ron Haskins, Montague Township Fire Department

ron%20haskins.jpgRon passed away peacefully in hospital, Kingston on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the age of 73. Beloved husband for over 46 years and best friend of Pat (Timbers) Haskins. Much loved and respected father of Mark (Angie) Haskins and Michael Haskins and much loved Grandpa to Rhyannon and Finn. Loved brother of Craig (Mary) Haskins and Arlene (the late Grant) Dopson. Fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many great friends. Ron was one of the founding members of Montague Fire Department serving the department for over 40 years until his retirement in September 2016. He will be sadly missed by all he worked with over the years on the department. Ron volunteered countless hours coaching minor hockey over the years and was a former trainer with the Smiths Falls Bears. He loved music, model trains and collecting sports memorabilia and photos for his rec room. Most of all Ron enjoyed spending time with family, especially the grandchildren. He will be sadly missed and forever loved. Family and friends may pay their respects at the Blair & Son Funeral Home, 112 Beckwith St. N., Smiths Falls on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Hillcrest Cemetery. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will follow at the Rosedale Hall, Montague - 657 Rosedale Rd. S., Smiths Falls. All are welcome to attend and share memories. In memory of Ron, donations to the Trillium Gift of Life organ donor program or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

The wake will take place in full dress uniform Thursday evening.  We are meeting at 77 ‘Beckwith Street North (Smiths Falls Fire Department) at 17:15.  We will proceed with the March at 17:30 to Blair and Sons funeral home (5 minute walk). After the wake, you are all invited back to the Smiths Falls Fire department for light refreshments.  The Funeral will take place on Friday at 11 am at the Blair and Sons Chapel  and will then proceed to Hillcrest Cemetery.
