A morning fire at an auto body centre in Concord has been brought under control but firefighters remain on the scene.
Emergency crews attended the scene of a fire at an auto body business in Concord Dec. 18.
By 10 a.m., Vaughan Auto Centre remained fully engulfed in flames as six units from Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service battle the blaze, Deputy Fire Chief Mike Doyle said.
Doyle added there have been a series of small explosions at the site.
One employee of the auto body business has been transported to hospital with minor injuries, Doyle said.
Maplecrete Road is closed from Hwy. 7 to Doughton Road, and Doughton is closed from Jane Street to Maplecrete as crews work at the scene. The road closures are expected to remain in effect indefinitely for demolition of the building, according to a tweet from York Regional Police shortly after 4 p.m.
York Regional Police responded to a call at the tire and auto repair business for the blaze at approximately 8:50 a.m., as thick black smoke reduced visibility, causing a road closure.
