People living in the Shaver Street area of Cainsville in Brant County were asked to keep their windows and doors closed while firefighters dealt with a blaze on Thursday evening.
County of Brant Fire urged residents to avoid the street between Ewart Avenue and Prince Charles Road. The Ontario Provincial Police announced there was a closure between 50 Shaver Road and Ewart Avenue at 1:57 p.m. They said it was unclear how long the closure would last for.
In an email to CTV News, the fire department confirmed approximately 24 firefighters were battling the flames at a commercial property. An advisory from neighbouring Brantford said smoke may be visible in some parts of the city.
No injuries had been reported and the cause of the fire hadn’t been determined as of 7:28 p.m.
Volunteer firefighters work in Brant County. Drivers are asked to pull over if they notice a vehicle with a flashing green light behind them. The light signifies a volunteer firefighters is on their way to an emergency.
