Emergency services rescued three people who were stranded Saturday on a small island at Rockwood Conservation Area.
Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police, the Guelph-Eramosa Fire Department, the Guelph Fire Department and Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services were called to the conservation area at around 6:30 p.m. They were told three people needed rescue after their canoe capsized.
All three people were wearing lifejackets and had climbed onto the small island. Police said they were stranded there for about an hour.
The Guelph Fire Department used a boat to rescue the victims. One person was taken to hospital as a precaution while the other two were checked over by paramedics once they were back on shore.
