CLARINGTON — A Courtice home was engulfed in flames late Monday, Jan. 20.

“It was a stubborn fire,” Clarington Fire Chief Gord Weir said via email.

No one was at home when the fire broke out at 3388 Courtice Rd. The call came in to the Clarington fire department at approximately 11 p.m.

It took approximately 39 firefighters, six pumpers, one aerial truck and several support vehicles to battle the blaze. By the time the flames were out the building was a total loss, explained Chief Weir.
