THUNDER BAY – Residents are being asked to pitch in and help keep fire hydrants near their homes clear of snow.

In a release issued on Friday, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue said they could use help expediting the process of digging out hydrants in residential neighbourhoods and remind the public not to block hydrants while removing snow from their driveways.

“Clearing snow around fire hydrants keeps them visible and accessible and will save valuable time in the case of an emergency,” said Deputy Fire Chief Dave Paxton.
