Firefighters in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands responded to eight emergency incidents during the latest reporting period, including an illegal open-air burn.
According to Fire Services, crews were called to two separate incidents involving hydro lines down with fire, a medical assistance call involving a train, a motor vehicle collision, a report of smoke, two fire alarm activations, and the illegal burn.
Following the recent calls, Fire Services is reminding residents to ensure they have a valid burn permit before conducting any outdoor burning. Officials also stress the importance of understanding what materials are permitted to be burned and notifying the Township when a permit is being used.
