The North Middlesex Fire Department has received a $16,460.90 grant through the Fire Protection (FP) Grant program, an initiative by the Province of Ontario and the Solicitor General’s Office.
This funding will help cover costs associated with the upcoming renovation of the Ailsa Craig Fire Station. Specifically, the grant will support the purchase of a washing machine, clothes dryer, and upgraded shower and locker facilities.
“The Municipality of North Middlesex wants to thank the Province of Ontario for recognizing the importance of cancer prevention for our volunteer firefighters. This funding helps make the upcoming renovation to the Ailsa Craig Fire Station possible.” Said, Mayor Brian Ropp.
“The funding we’ve received from the Province of Ontario and the Solicitor General’s Office will help mitigate the exposure to carcinogens for our firefighters and their families. The Ailsa Craig Station will soon have facilities for firefighters to shower after exposure to smoke and to wash their clothing before returning home” said Fire Chief, Greg Vandenheuvel.
