Firefighters responded to a train fire late Monday morning on the tracks in Springwater Township.
Crews arrived to find the southbound CP train roughly 1,200 feet up the tracks north of the Baldwin Lane crossing. Officials say the train crew used an extinguisher to put out the fire located on an axle.
Firefighters stretched a hose up the tracks through deep snow to finish the job and help cool the axle.
No injuries were reported. Springwater Deputy Fire Chief Jeff French tells CTV News there is no concern for public safety.
Railway service is suspended until the train can be moved from the area, which French anticipates will happen in the next few hours.
