Fire causes $500,000 damage to house in Long Point

Damage is estimated at $500,000 after a house fire in Long Point on Friday.  

The Norfolk Fire Department was called about the fire on Old Cut Boulevard at about 5 a.m.  

Crews from Port Rowan, St. Williams, Langton and Fairgrounds extinguished the fire, which was advanced in the rear portion of the house. No one was home at the time. The house is insured. 

Icy conditions resulted in one firefighter suffering a minor injury.  

The cause of the fire is under investigation but isn’t considered suspicious.
