Emergency crews called to 'suspicious' fire on property reportedly used by Netflix

Emergency crews were called to a rural property overnight after a "suspicious" fire broke out on a site officials say Netflix has used for filming.

Firefighters arrived at the field near Concession 12 and Centre Road around midnight, according to a post on the department's Twitter account.

When emergency crews arrived they found "two abandoned trailers engulfed in flames," according to Hamilton police Const. Lorraine Edwards.

She added the person who contacted police believed the buildings were part of a "Netflix film set that was not currently in use."

Video from the scene showed flames, smoke and two heavily damaged trailers.

It was not immediately clear who owns the property, but the trailers have been abandoned for "upwards of 10 years," Edwards explained.

Investigation into the fire will continue today.

"There were no injuries and the OFM were notified due to the suspicious nature of the fire," Fire Department Deputy Chief John Verbeek wrote in an email to CBC. "The information we have is that this was a site used by Netflix for filming."
