Diesel fuel has been stolen from the Bonnechere Valley Fire Department, leaving the service in the Ottawa Valley with empty fuel tanks that would keep its trucks moving.
The theft from the Bonnechere Valley Township fire department was reported to police on June 3.
The OPP says that “sometime in the last month,” diesel fuel was stolen from an outdoor storage tank at the Bonnechere Valley Fire Department building on Janet Road.
No other information has been released.
The Bonnechere Valley Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post that it was aware of a theft of diesel fuel from its Foymount Hall.
“The tank we use to fuel our trucks that respond to emergencies in our township has been emptied,” the department said.
“Police have been contacted. To say we’re disappointed is an understatement.”
