A popular restaurant on Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation sustained heavy damage in an overnight fire Monday.
Six Nations Police and Fire and Emergency Services responded to a structure at The Burger Barn located at 3000 Fourth Line Road at just after 3:30 a.m.
Police and the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal were on scene Monday morning as the fire is being investigated as suspicious.
The east end of the restaurant – built in the style of a large, red barn — was scorched by flames, the windows blown out, and the roof appears to have been weakened.
On Saturday, January 25, police were called at about 3:30 a.m. to investigate shots that had been fired at the restaurant. Police spoke to witnesses and found minor damage to the building’s exterior, but no suspects were found.
Police are investigating if there is a link between the gunshots and the fire.
