Course Description

This must-attend course will provide instruction on personal management skills for the new fire service manager. It's a lesson on "office survival" for the novice manager and will provide tools for greater effectiveness for the experienced or recently promoted manager. Topics include time management, action planning and personal communications. Efficiently managing meetings, including developing a meeting agenda and chairing an effective meeting will also be covered. Since municipal employees often need to deal with the members of their municipal council. This course will provide the participants with the necessary skills to interact with their council understanding all of the applicable protocols. Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the benefits of personal well-being on a productive workplace. 

Additional Information: Once registered course specifics like modules, marking, etc will all be available approximately one week prior to course start date when registered students receive instructions to log on to CPL Portal/BlackBoard.

This course is part of the Humber College Fire Service Executive Management Certificate program and participants will receive one (1) credit towards their certificate.

There must be a minimum of 20 registered participants for the course to proceed.  Registration cut-off date is April 22, 2024.

Registration/Cancellation Policy:  There is a $50 fee for all cancellations.  There are no refunds after April 15, 2024. If a course is cancelled due to the minimum numbers not attained, students can be refunded their course fees, or a credit can be applied to their account.
