About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director, Fire and Emergency Services is a key member of the senior leadership team providing leadership, direction and vision to all employees within the Fire and Emergency Services Department. This role requires performing functions as required to fulfill the legislative requirements of the position under the Ontario Fire Code, Fire Protection and Prevention Act 1997 the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and other related Acts. This role is responsible for leading the Emergency Management Committee and maintaining the Township’s Emergency Management Program.

The Director, Fire and Emergency Services motivates, coaches and guides staff, ensures that appropriate development strategies, plans, and training are in place to develop a high performing workforce and ensures compliance with applicable legislation. Working with a motivated and progressive team, this leadership opportunity will champion the Township’s strategic goals, of leadership, development, implementation and measurement of continuous improvement initiatives, department and corporate performance, customer service, technology and process improvements.

What you Bring

The Successful candidate must have completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Public Administration, Fire Protection, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience., CEMC Designation, minimum NFPA Fire Officer 1021 III and bring a minimum of 10 years Senior Officer experience, 5 years which are to be at the Fire Chief level.

This senior management position offers a salary commensurate with experience and education (2024 salary range $135,293 to 164,449).
