Job Profile
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Fire Chief, the Emergency Management and Business Continuity Coordinator (Contract 18 months) is responsible for assisting with the coordination and implementation of the City’s emergency management, facility emergency response and continuity of operations programs. This position will perform skilled technical, project management and administrative work independently and with cross-divisional and multi-sector project teams to assist with planning, coordinating, developing and promoting the emergency management, facility emergency response and continuity of operations programs.
What you will be doing
- Assist with the implementation and development of the City's emergency management, facility emergency response and continuity of operations programs including updates and resource materials as needed.
- Lead and support the creation of the Business Impact Analysis (BIAs) for each services area.
- Work collaboratively with service areas to identify acceptable recovery time periods, and establish resources required for the successful resumption of services in the event of a significant disruption.
- Project management associated with supporting and/or facilitating cross-divisional and multi-sector planning teams to develop emergency management, facility emergency response and continuity of operations initiatives.
- Chair and support different emergency management, facility emergency response and continuity of operations meetings.
- Develop and facilitate training sessions for emergency management, facility emergency response and continuity of operations programs.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to city departments and service areas in the development of plans and procedures.
- Provide subject matter expertise to service areas for the development of emergency management and continuity of operations plans and BIAs.
- Participate in the Emergency Management Program Committee and other committees.
- Support the City of Cambridge Emergency Management Program and act as the alternate Community Emergency Management Coordinator per legislative requirements.
- Other related projects as assigned.
Education
- 2-year college diploma in Business Continuity, Emergency Management or related field.
Experience and Knowledge
- Three to four years of experience in developing and delivering emergency management and/or continuity of operations initiatives or related field.
- Previous Project Management experience.
- Experience in Business Continuity and Business Impact Assessment are an asset.
- Experience in communication, training and facilitation skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Demonstrate experience writing plans and procedures.
- Demonstrate experience in facilitation, project management and delivery of programs.
- Experience in SharePoint is an asset.
- Demonstrate experience in mass notification system an asset.
We are looking for these certificates:
- Certificate in Emergency Management.
- Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP) designation is an asset.
We will ask you for these items if you are hired:
- Proof of your current and valid certificate(s) and/or educational qualifications.
- Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate from the Ministry of Labour. (may be obtained post offer)
- Valid G driver's license.
Your compensation:
- Hourly range of $44.71 - $54.53 (Non Union Salary Grid, Level 4).
- Comprehensive benefits package including extended health, dental, travel benefits; long term disability; accidental death and dismemberment and life insurance.
- Enrolment in Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).
Hours of work:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm (35 hours per week).
