Registration is open to any members of the fire service in Ontario.

The SP230: Wildland Fire Strategies and Tactics for Fire Departments Course is a two-day course, designed and intended for delivery to Municipal, Indigenous and Federal Fire Agencies, targeting Incident Commanders and Officers. The intent of the training is to enhance expertise gained through the SP103: Wildland Fire Fighting Training for Fire Agencies, which is a pre-requisite for this course. The course focuses on Incident Commander level knowledge, training and decision-making processes with a strong emphasis on interagency response guidelines and procedures.

Prerequisites:

  • SP103 training or equivalent (SP100)
  • Must be an Officer or Incident Commander
  • Open to Inner and Outer Fire Region agencies

If your department has entered into a Fire Suppression Agreement with the MNRF, your wildland fire training should be to this standard. Contact your training department if you’re unsure of this training standard.

If you require the SP103 program you can reach out to Shayne McCool - Fire Advisor, Northeast Region | Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services (AFFES) directly, and he will work with your department to help purchase the SP103 package.
