After 33 years in fire services, Orillia Fire Chief Ralph Dominelli is retiring effective April 30, 2019.

Chief Dominelli started his career in fire services as a volunteer firefighter with the City of Orillia in 1986. After a short time with the Toronto Fire Service, he returned to Orillia as a full-time firefighter for the City of Orillia in 1993.

Rising through the ranks, he has served the City of Orillia as a Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Fire Chief and became Fire Chief in 2008.

“Chief Dominelli’s successful career is a huge achievement,” said Mayor Steve Clarke. “Council thanks him for his strong leadership and dedicated service to the City of Orillia, where he and his team have provided an invaluable service to our citizens. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”

“Chief Dominelli has celebrated many career highlights over the past 33 years and has also helped the Fire Department overcome many hardships that unfortunately come with a career in fire services,” said Gayle Jackson, Chief Administrative Officer.  “On behalf of staff at the City of Orillia, I’d like to thank Chief Dominelli for his many contributions to the corporation and his dedication to the safety of Orillia.”

“It has been an honour and a privilege to serve with the current and past members of the Orillia Fire Department during my career at the City of Orillia,” said Chief Dominelli. “I am proud of all the accomplishments we have achieved and I know the Orillia Fire Department will continue to provide the most efficient and effective service to the Orillia community.”

Dominelli’s last day will be March 29, 2019. Council is currently reviewing options for the leadership of the Fire Department moving forward.
