‘Spectacular’ fire destroys Mississauga home, leaves other homes with 'extensive damage'

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office has been notified after a massive fire destroyed a Mississauga home under construction and left at least two homes beside it damaged.

The blaze broke out just after 4 a.m. Tuesday on Watersedge Road, not far from the Bradley Museum and Rattray Marsh.

Platoon Chief Sean Bradley described it as a “spectacular fire” and the home, which was under construction but nearly completed, was “fully engulfed” by the time firefighters arrived.

It took fire crews more than two hours to bring the fire under control.

Two homes beside the initial home also caught fire and there was extensive damage to them as well, fire officials said.

Damage is expected to be close to $2 million.

No one was injured.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
