Some Want to be Firefighters When They Grow Up; Others Have That Chance Right Away

The Arnprior Fire Department held an Open House at the Station last Saturday (September 28th) from 10AM to 1PM.

It was encouraging that one of the most popular activities for kids in attendance was to aim an active fire hose at a pylon several yards distance and knock it over; bodes well for future firefighting in the community!

Desarmia says going forward from “Test Your Smoke Alarm Day”, the Arnprior Fire Service is looking to fill a key position.

Deputy Chief Cory Nicholas says the individual who was fulfilling the role was lured away by OC Transpo- so he’s sharing his old duties in the interim.

Application deadline for the Fire Prevention and Protection Officer’s role is October 7th.

Chief Desarmia says they’re looking to recruit volunteer firefighters.
