Sioux Lookout firefighter promoted to Chief
Sioux Lookout has named Jeremy Funk as its new Fire Chief and Emergency Management Officer.
Funk had been serving as the fire service’s long-time training officer.
He’s also worked for Sioux Lookout’s Public Works as a foreman and serves as the President of Northwestern Ontario’s Federation of Anglers and Hunters.
Council made the appointment during their March 15 Council meeting, noting interviews were held in January and seven applications were received.
Funk officially started his position retroactive to March 3, 2023.
Interim Fire Chief Rob Favot has been serving the municipality once again after previous Chief Robert Popovic announced his resignation in November of 2022.
Favot originally retired from the service after 46 years of dedication to the community in 2020.
