The Municipality of Port Hope has announced some organizational changes to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
These changes, according to the municipality, are aimed at boosting efficiency and accountability and will not require additional tax levy funding.
Effective immediately, the Planning and Development department will be renamed Development Services, integrating the Building Services division. This consolidation brings customer service for Building, Planning, and Economic Development under one roof at the 5 Mill Street building.
Jason Williams, the current Director of Protective Services, will now also serve as Fire Chief. By-law staff will relocate to Fire Station 1 at 245 Ontario Street, where parking ticket payments will be accepted. Residents can still pay tickets online or via mail.
A new Environmental Services department will be established, encompassing Environmental Remediation, Water, and Wastewater divisions. This department will manage the PHAI project cleanup, with the director position partially funded by Canadian Nuclear Laboratories. Recruitment for this role will begin shortly, with the new director expected to start in September.
“These changes reflect our commitment to enhancing organizational efficiency and providing user-friendly services,” stated Candice White, Chief Administrative Officer. The reorganization aims to position Port Hope for continued success and responsiveness to community needs.
