Two men have been charged and police are searching for a third suspect who could be in Mississauga or Brampton following an arson at an Ontario home that’s been targeted multiple times, investigators say.
The most recent incident happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Jan. 18 when the Windsor Police Service says officers were called to an active fire at a new-build home in the 200 block of Cowan Court.
Police say firefighters with the Amherstburg Fire Department were called to the scene and extinguished the blaze, which was the third time in 16 months that the property “was the target of an arson attack.”
No physical injuries were reported during the incident but the fire caused over $1 million in damages to the home and a neighbouring property, police say.
Investigators say they obtained video footage from the scene that showed three suspects running from the property carrying gas cans who fled in a black luxury SUV.
Then on March 19, police say two male suspects, one from Brampton and another from Mississauga, turned themselves in and charged with multiple offences, while a third suspect is still at large.
The Windsor Police Service says Tanveer Singh Brar, of Mississauga, and Jasdeep Seehra, of Brampton, have been charged with arson causing damage to property, possession of incendiary materials, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence of arson.
The third suspect is described as an East Indian male stabnding approximately five-foot-ten-inches tall with a medium build. He has a tattoo on his left hand, and at the time of the incident was wearing a black sweater with a hood, black Roots pants, and a black Nike toque.
Police say the suspect may reside in the Brampton or Mississauga area and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
