Ten firefighters from Milford Bay and Port Carling fire departments attended a fast-moving grass fire on Muskoka Road 118 Monday.
Crews brought the nearly one-acre fire under control in around 30 minutes.
A Muskoka Lakes Fire Department social media post says “This fire is believed to be caused by an outdoor burn that reignited due to winds. The unattended fire was reported quickly, this saved the two garages that were under threat. One garage had heat damage to the siding.”
The media post asks people to ensure that outdoor burning is extinguished before leaving the area.
It recommends homeowners soak the fire, stir it, and then soak it again.
