There are no injuries reported following a late-night fire in Barrhaven.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) responded to a commercial one-storey building in the 3000 block of Jockvale Road, near Greenbank Road, shortly before 10 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.
Crews noted it was a former golfing business that was up in flames.
Once there, heavy smoke was seen and a working fire was quickly declared in order to dispatch additional rigs to the scene.
To gain access to the building and to advance hose lines in, firefighters had to cut a gate. Plywood that was blocking windows and doors was taken apart so crews could conduct searches.
Officials said the roof had to be pulled down because of the “large amount of fire” in the ceiling.
Firefighters declared the fire under control about an hour after arriving.
An OFS investigator was dispatched to the scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
