Firefighters battle Mother Nature while preventing fire from spreading to Springwater home

CTV News

Fire crews battled a quick-spreading fire in frigid temperatures, biting winds and deep snow in Springwater Township Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called about a fire that had broken out in a trailer and spread to a garage at a home on Vigo Road and County Road 92.

Crews made quick work of the blaze, getting it under control within an hour, and preventing it from spreading further to the main home.

Additional tankers and mutual aid were called in for support from Wasaga Beach. No one on the crew was injured.

Officials say the situation proved challenging due to the deep snow surrounding the home and the windchill values, which froze equipment.

The damage is estimated at around $200,000. The cause of the fire isn’t considered suspicious.
