An early morning fire, which occurred at an Oakville auto dealership Tuesday morning is considered suspicious.
The Oakville Fire Department was called to Key Auto at 2219 Wyecroft Rd., at 3:29 a.m., after receiving multiple reports of a fire there.
“Upon arrival, crews saw flames and heavy smoke from the building,” said Oakville Fire Chief Paul Boissonneault.
“Multiple crews made entry into the building, encountering high temperatures and heavy smoke, but were able to work quickly to bring the fire under control.”
The fire chief said no one was injured by the fire.
A total of six fire trucks attended the scene along with Halton police, Halton Region Paramedics, Oakville Hydro and Enbridge Gas.
Boissonneault said the fire has been deemed suspicious and Oakville Fire Department investigators are working with Halton police to identify the origin of the fire and the cause.
“The fire was observed inside the building when fire and police arrived on the scene and a broken pane of glass was observed on the exterior of the building which appeared suspicious,” said Const. Jeff Dillon, Halton Police Media Officer.
Boissonneault said the Ontario Fire Marshal would be notified.
While no property damage estimate is currently available, Boissonneault said there doesn’t appear to be any structural damage to the building, however, there was heavy smoke throughout.
