Enbridge Gas Inc. has announced a donation of $100,000, to be shared by 20 Ontario fire departments, for its Project Assist, a program that supplements existing training for Ontario volunteer and composite fire departments in the communities where Enbridge operates.
A portion of the funding goes to the Douro-Dummer Fire Services to educational materials for firefighters to enhance life-saving techniques, states a press release.
"With the numerous resources available today, this is an exceptional opportunity for us to acquire the quality materials offered by Project Assist to help guide and shape our training programs to be the best they can be!" says Fire Chief Chuck Pedersen.
The funding was presented a Wednesday in Douro-Dummer.
"Project Assist improves access to training materials for municipal fire departments," said Jon Pegg, Ontario Fire Marshal and Chief, Emergency Management. "Firefighting can be dangerous and unpredictable, and these training materials positively contribute to the health and safety of firefighters and the broader community."
Douro-Dummer, east of Peterborough and part of Peterborough County, includes the communities of Douro, Warsaw, Donwood, McCracken's Landing, Crowe's Landing, Youngs Point, Cottesloe, and Centre Dummer.
