Course Description

This course focuses on understanding municipal budgeting, finance and procurement. Your skills as a leader are enhanced with an understanding of how to balance Fire needs with Corporate priorities and community affordability.   We will explore the financial challenges that municipalities face, and provide you with the tools needed to develop a sustainable fire budget.  Procurement is a critical piece in staying on budget.  This course will give students an understanding of the intricacies involved in public procurement.  We will explore how to write and evaluate proposals that result in the best proponent and the lowest cost.   

This course is part of the Humber College Fire Service Executive Management Certificate program. Participants will receive one (1) credit towards their certificate.

Additional Information: Once registered course specifics like modules, marking, etc will all be available approximately one week prior to course start date when registered students receive instructions to log on to CPL Portal/BlackBoard.

There must be a minimum of 20 registered participants in order for the course to proceed for each course. Registration cut-off is October 28, 2024. 

Registration/Cancellation Policy:  There is a $50 fee for all cancellations.  There are no refunds after October 21, 2024.  If a course is cancelled due to the minimum numbers not attained, students can be refunded their course fees or a credit can be applied to their account.
