Course Description:
This blended course will provide the Operations Level Firefighter with the information you need to take appropriate actions at hazardous materials spills or releases and WMD incidents. The scope of this course is to train Firefighters to meet the Operations, and Mission-Specific job performance requirements (JPRs) in chapters 7 and 9 of NFPA 470, Hazardous Materials Standards for Responders, 2022 Edition. It addresses the Operations Level Responder’s responsibility to recognize the presence of hazardous materials and WMDs, secure the area, don personnel protection, and request the assistance of trained technicians, when necessary. Additionally, it addresses the control of hazardous materials releases and WMDs using operations for which the responders have been trained.
